A lonely, dessertlike winterlandscape

Being a live creature in Dovrefjell National Park in the winter is...well...challenging! Just look at those four muskoxen in the snow dessert. Really...

But they are tough. Ment for a life like this. They have been developing for thousands of years...

Blurry picture, but it was windy, and snowy. And I was serving lunch for some guests, 1250 meters above sea level, no place to find shelter from the wind.
But NICE!  Muskoxen close by, cold, wind, snow NORWAY!

Today it is definitely better, but still winter. Saturday and a day off. Think I have earned it!

Wind and snow today...

I'm (lucky me) inside today. Warm, cozy with a nice cup of tea.
Outside is a terrible wind! It is probably going to increase and give us a storm.

And the muskoxen are in the National Park. Where the wind probably is at its worst now.

But  believe me; it is just temporarely! Some weeks now and we will once again lick the warm, nice sun, look at flowers everywhere... But I must admit; today I really don't believe much in what I just said!

Time will show! Will the spring come this year too? Guess so...

But now I'm going to put on a new kettle with warm, nice tea...

Nearly one year old! Still alive!

They are well protected and well taken care of theese little once! A little younger than one year now, probably born May/June last year!

I met him yesterday, so obviously both him/her and the rest of the group have survived a cold Winter! They looked all right. All of them! Seven muskoxen gathered together on a snowfree hill in the National Park. Trying to find something to eat.

I can't explain it, but even with 34 years of experience with muskoxen I am still as fascinated as the first time I met them! They are amazing, mysterious and beautiful!

I am looking forward to lots of days together with them and with many of you the following months!

Still alive...(blush)

Sorry for letting you down...for some weeks! Just had to take new pictures, visit our fourlegged half ton friends, reorganize!

But I'm here again! And so are muskoxen, deer, moose, foxes, birds, plants...

It is February now. Not too much snow, not too much wind, not too much...anything. Just an ordinary winter morning.

I promise to be here as much as possible from now on. Even on ordinary days.

But I like to present nice pictures for you. Like the one today...and hopefully others to come!
Stay cool, ok?
